परम्परागत तौर पर पंडितों के द्वारा हमारे यहां बच्चों की जो कुण्डलियां बनायी जाती थी, उसमें लग्नकुण्डली के साथ साथ चन्द्र कुण्डली भी बनायी जाती थी ! आप देखेंगे तब पाएंगे कि किसी बच्चे की दोनो कुण्डलियों में कोई खास अंतर नहीं होता, सभी ग्रहों की स्थिति उन्हीं राशियों में मौजूद होती हैं, सिर्फ कुण्डली के खाने बदल जाते हैं ! जहां ढाई दिनों तक जन्म लेने वाले सभी बच्चों की चन्द्र कुण्डलियां एक जैसी होती हैं, वहीं लग्नकुण्डली दो दो घंटे से कम समय में परिवर्तित होती रहती हैं ! इसलिए लग्न कुण्डली के हिसाब से चन्द्र कुण्डली बहुत ही स्थूल मानी जाती है, परन्तु इसके बावजूद चन्द्र कुण्डली का महत्व प्राचीनकाल से अबतक बना हुआ है, ज्योतिषी इन दोनो कुण्डलियों को मिलाकर ही विश्लेषण करते हैं !

चंदमा के अलावा भी चन्द्र कुण्डली में प्रथम भाव में जो ग्रह स्थित रहता है, उसी ग्रह के साथ जातक का मन सक्रिय होता है ! इसलिए वे ग्रह लग्न कुण्डली में जिन संदर्भों का प्रतिनिधित्व करते हैं, वहां वहां जातक का ध्यान संकेन्द्रण बना रहता है ! इसके अलावा चन्द्र कुण्डली में चतुर्थ और दशम भाव बहुत महत्वपूर्ण होते हैं, इन स्थानों में जो ग्रह मौजूद होते हैं, उन संदर्भों के लिए भी जातक बहुत क्रियाशील रहता है ! चन्द्र कुण्डली में षष्ठ भाव में मौजूद ग्रहों को भी हमने मनोनुकूल पाया है, यदि वे कमजोर भी हों, तब मन को तकलीफ पहुंचाने वाला कार्य नहीं किया करते हैं ! चन्द्र कुण्डली में यदि सातवें भाव में कोई ग्रह मौजूद हो, तब वह कमजोर होता है, उन ग्रहों से जातक को कोई विशेष सहयोग नहीं मिल पाता है, इसलिए इनके जीवन में उन ग्रहों का अधिक महत्व नहीं होता ! चन्द्र कुण्डली में आठवें भाव में स्थित ग्रह लग्न कुण्डली से भी अधिक कष्टकर होते देखे गए हैं, वह मन को बारम्बार कष्ट पहुंचात रहतेे हैं ! लग्न कुण्डली के हिसाब से जिन जिन भावों के वह स्वामी होते हैं, उन संदर्भों का तनाव जातक को झेलने के लिए विवश होना पड़ता है !
