Swaha is actually the wife of Agni Dev. Therefore, their chanting occurs after every mantra in the havan.
Swaha means: - to deliver correctly. In other words, to deliver the necessary substance safely to his beloved. Srimad Bhagavat and Shiva Purana have described descriptions related to Swaha.
While reciting the mantra, offering havan material to God only by saying Swaha.
In havan or any religious ritual, while chanting mantras, offering havan material, arghya or bhog to God only by saying Swaha. But, have you ever wondered what is the meaning of the word swaha spoken at the end of every mantra.
Actually no Yajna can be considered successful until the deity of Havan is performed. However, the gods can only take such an eclipse when offered by fire through swaha. Srimad Bhagavat and Shiva Purana have described descriptions related to Swaha. Apart from this, in the Vedic texts like Rigveda, Yajurveda, many suktas have been composed on the importance of fire.

According to mythology, Swaha was the daughter of Daksha Prajapati. He was married to Agnidev. Agnidev receives Havishya through his wife, Swaha, and through him the same deity invoked receives the deity.
At the same time, according to the second legend, Aghadev's wife Swaha had three sons named Pavak, Pavman and Shuchi.
Another interesting story is also linked to the origin of Swaha. According to this, Swaha was an art of nature, which was married to Agni at the insistence of the gods. Lord Krishna himself gave this boon to Swaha that only through that the deity would be able to accept Havisya. The sacrificial purpose is fulfilled only when the deity invoked is delivered to their favorite enjoyment.
वास्तव में अग्नि देव की पत्नी हैं स्वाहा। इसलिए हवन में हर मंत्र के बाद होता है इनका उच्चारण।
स्वाहा का अर्थ है:– सही रीति से पहुंचाना। दूसरे शब्दों में कहें तो जरूरी पदार्थ को उसके प्रिय तक सुरक्षित पहुंचाना। श्रीमद्भागवत तथा शिव पुराण में स्वाहा से संबंधित वर्णन आए हैं।
मंत्र पाठ करते हुए स्वाहा कहकर ही हवन सामग्री भगवान को अर्पित करते हैं।
हवन या किसी भी धार्मिक अनुष्ठान में मंत्र पाठ करते हुए स्वाहा कहकर ही हवन सामग्री, अर्घ्य या भोग भगवान को अर्पित करते हैं। लेकिन, कभी आपने सोचा है कि हर मंत्र के अंत में बोले जाने वाले शब्द स्वाहा का अर्थ क्या है।
दरअसल कोई भी यज्ञ तब तक सफल नहीं माना जा सकता है जब तक कि हवन का ग्रहण देवता न कर लें। लेकिन, देवता ऐसा ग्रहण तभी कर सकते हैं जबकि अग्नि के द्वारा स्वाहा के माध्यम से अर्पण किया जाए। श्रीमद्भागवत तथा शिव पुराण में स्वाहा से संबंधित वर्णन आए हैं। इसके अलावा ऋग्वेद, यजुर्वेद आदि वैदिक ग्रंथों में अग्नि की महत्ता पर अनेक सूक्तों की रचनाएं हुई हैं।
पौराणिक कथा
पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार, स्वाहा दक्ष प्रजापति की पुत्री थीं। इनका विवाह अग्निदेव के साथ किया गया था। अग्निदेव अपनी पत्नी स्वाहा के माध्यम से ही हविष्य ग्रहण करते हैं तथा उनके माध्यम से यही हविष्य आह्वान किए गए देवता को प्राप्त होता है।
वहीं, दूसरी पौराणिक कथा के मुताबिक अग्निदेव की पत्नी स्वाहा के पावक, पवमान और शुचि नामक तीन पुत्र हुए।
स्वाहा की उत्पत्ति से एक अन्य रोचक कहानी भी जुड़ी हुई है। इसके अनुसार, स्वाहा प्रकृति की ही एक कला थी, जिसका विवाह अग्नि के साथ देवताओं के आग्रह पर संपन्न हुआ था। भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने स्वयं स्वाहा को ये वरदान दिया था कि केवल उसी के माध्यम से देवता हविष्य को ग्रहण कर पाएंगे। यज्ञीय प्रयोजन तभी पूरा होता है जबकि आह्वान किए गए देवता को उनका पसंदीदा भोग पहुंचा दिया जाए।
